When is the Best Time to Exercise?
Posted By admin on January 13, 2012
The question of the best time to exercise is a fascination subject for one reason. Researchers have suggested that 6pm is the optimal time for exercising. The fact is that is true because your body temperatures, lung functions and hormone levels are optimal at this time. The culture of our society however almost demands that we exercise in the morning. This statement can be proven by the research that’s been done. Morning workouts tend to be our norm because of convenience. Sometimes instead of a morning workout we shoot for a lunch time routine or even a break. The facts below describe when the best times might be.
Your body temperature is at a low point about 3 hours before you wake up.
Forcing yourself into an early morning workout can be a mistake that may cause you injury because your body is not ready to exert that kind of energy yet. If you just plow through your workout in the beginning you will be able to reset your biological clock. It may cut into your sleep time and make you a little unhappy, but you will adjust and get used to it. Pretty soon you will feel normal about doing your new normal routine. People who are able to consistently work out do so by exercising earlier in the day rather than in the evenings after work, according to research and studies. This allows them to get it done and devote the rest of their day to other responsibilities. Many people also find that it’s easier to develop an exercise habit by working out in the morning. Working out in the morning also offers fewer interruptions and distractions. This makes sense because many people aren’t up and outside at that time of day. If it means being able to exercise, many people are willing to get up a little earlier. That is impressive dedication.
Whenever possible move your workouts to late afternoon. You may be surprised at how many compelling reasons there are for this. Late afternoon workouts have been proven better due to our own physical ability in the afternoons. Endurance tends to be highest in the afternoons. Our liklihood of injury is lower during afternoon times because our muscles are already as warm as they are going to be. No matter what the program you will gain the best benefit from an afternoon routine. It’s up to the individual, then, to determine the best time of day for them to exercise. The type of exercise that you’ll be doing needs to considered as well. Once you’ve figured out the best time for you to exercise, make a plan and stick with it.
